Most LANs run at mbs and, unless you are very lucky, the chances of you having an internet connection that can saturate that are very slim. I constantly download to a NAS and I've yet to have any problems.
Unless uTorrent starts showing disk overload you should be fine. I did a search and saw something about changing the diskio. Alas, I don't have that setting in my Advanced Settings screen. Such settings don't exist anymore. Writing to the network over mbit is a lot slower, and when you start the torrent, it has to create the files, which can take quite a while as it basically has to write a ton of zeros. Hmm I see. Is there the possibility of downloading to the computer's hard disc then automatically transferring the downloaded file over to the NAS?
I want to be able to start a download and have it end up on the NAS automatically to allow access from other machines, so if the copying could be automated that would be fab. Just fyi, the disk cache options are in surprise "Disk Cache". Hmm if I set the 'Put new downloads in' then when I start a new torrent, tell it to save somewhere else, and leave the 'Move completed downloads to' option, will the torrent download to the first one then get moved to the individually set destination for that torrent?
The reason I ask is that for every torrent the eventual destination will be different i. No, everything will get sent to move completed folder. You can organize things with labels, though. On super large torrents that point to say over GB of files, you can get disk overload. I just turn off the disk cache all together and let the internal cache on the hard drives handle it.
